Less than half of Americans (41%) said they might be willing to buy a digital subscription to a newspaper provided that they are presented with a persuasive argument, according to a new survey of 900 U.S. adults conducted by Meclabs, which examined their demands and attitudes toward online news.

    I JUST went through this with the NYT and WSJ since they both now cost a fortune to have home delivered. It came down to economics. WSJ pricing made it cheaper to keep home delivery, NYT did not, so moved to NYT digital and killed the dead tree version. I think it was a poor pricing decision by the NYT since now I see a few small ads per story, compared to when I read the dead tree version and saw nearly every display add.
