IPG's Initiative Appoints Kate Bower Global Chief Strategy Officer

Media agency Initiative, part of IPG Mediabrands has appointed Kate Bower Global Chief Strategy Officer. She replaces Sarah Ivey, who left the agency network to pursue other opportunities. 

Bower will oversee the continuing evolution of Initiative’s client offerings, products and tools, and will partner with the new business team to drive growth efforts for the agency. She will be based in New York, reporting into Jim Elms, Global CEO, Initiative.

Bower most recently served as EVP, Global/US Strategy at Starcom Mediavest Group (SMG) where she was the strategic lead for client Samsung. She was also a member of SMG’s Global Product Committee, and served on the executive management team for Starcom USA and Starcom Global in New York.

Bower started her career in London, including stints at communications planning specialists Unity and Naked. She worked across a diverse mix of clients from LucasFilm's Star Wars Prequels and Twentieth-Century Fox to Uniqlo, British Airways and Diageo, before being tapped to lead strategy for SMG across Asia, where she worked on clients including Procter & Gamble.
