Warner Bros. Starts New Digital Network Unit


One of the biggest producers of TV shows for U.S. broadcast networks, Warner Bros., is starting up a new digital network division -- Warner Bros. Digital Networks.

Craig Hunegs, president of business and strategy for Warner Bros. Television Group, will oversee the new unit with the title of president of Warner Bros. Digital Networks.

Hunegs reports to Kevin Tsujihara, chairman/chief executive officer of Warner Bros.

The unit will oversee all digital video network business, over-the-top video services and other digitally delivered direct-to-consumer entertainment. Warner Bros. Digital Networks, is reported to be working on several new over-the-top channels to be rolled out in the next few months.

The new Warner Bros. business will also look to expand the OTT reach of the CW -- the broadcast networks jointly owned by Warner Bros. and CBS.

Also included in the new business: Warner Bros. investment in the big digital video producer, Machinima; Ellen Digital Ventures, a partnership with talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres; and Warner Archive Instant, a subscription VOD service offering classic titles from the studio.

Additionally, it will incorporate business from its partnership with LeBron James’ Uninterrupted and DramaFever, the subscription-video service specializing in Korean TV shows and film dramas.
