Private Equity Firms Considering Offer For O2

The owner of Formula One racing and the backer of the Karl Lagerfeld fashion label are in talks to launch a joint GBP10bn raid on mobile phone provider O2. CVC Capital Partners and Apax Partners, two of Europe's biggest private equity firms, have discussed forming a consortium to buy Britain's second-biggest mobile operator, City sources said last week.
