REVOLVING DOOR: AKQA Promotes Carlos Matias To International Design Director

AKQA promoted Carlos Matias to international design director. Matias will oversee the design and branding practices across AKQA's offices in the US and Europe. He will be based in New York and report to Duan Evans, international executive creative director and Giles McCormack, international managing director. Matias has worked for AKQA since 2011 and prior to his promotion, served as design director in AKQA's London office. Together with his design team, he developed the visual language for the Nike Rise House of Mamba basketball initiative. The campaign is AKQA's most awarded project, garnering more than 50 trophies. Prior to AKQA, Matias worked in art direction roles at agencies and design companies in his home country of Portugal. In addition, AKQA hired Hunter Simms as creative director in the agency's New York office, where he will work on a variety of clients. "These appointments signify an exciting new chapter for AKQA, specifically in New York," said McCormack. "Carlos and Hunter are incredible creative talents and will make a huge impact."
