Goodway Group Appoints John Merryman CTO In A Newly Created Role

Programmatic media services firm Goodway Group on Tuesday announced it named John Merryman to the post of chief technology officer (CTO), a newly created role. Merryman will oversee the technology, data scienc, and software development teams at Goodway.

Goodway Group plans to increase the size of its engineering team under Merryman to continue innovating on its bidding services, digital analytics, and managed services. Merryman will report to Goodway Group COO Jay Friedman.

Previously, Merryman served as the CTO of local digital marketing company Yodle. Prior to that, he held technology leadership roles at Plated, Didit, and DoubleClick. While at DoubleClick, he worked with a small engineering team to design and develop the first public API to the new DART 5 system. He went on to manage new functions for DoubleClick for Advertisers.

"The complexities of owning, storing, and analyzing data to develop the best bidding strategies and capabilities in the market require a senior level of technical leadership that John brings. Hundredths of a penny often separates winners from losers in marketing performance and profitability, and John enables us to continue to lead in this area,” Friedman told Real-Time Daily via email. “We’re not far from an environment where all media is programmatically enabled. John’s unique and diverse experience enables Goodway to continue enabling regional agencies to value every impression with the horsepower of a holding company behind them."
