Pope Francis Addresses Time's Global Forum

Time Inc. is hosting a global forum event in Rome and at the Vatican at year's end, culminating with an address from Pope Francis.

The two-day conference, called the 2016 Fortune/Time Global Forum, will take place December 2 and 3.

Attendees will include Fortune 500 CEOs, members of the Time 100 and nonprofit, academic, religious and labor leaders.

They will convene to address “the need for a global economic system that both encourages growth and spreads its benefits more broadly,” per a Time Inc. statement.

The event's host committee includes CEOs from IBM, Johnson & Johnson, Monsanto, PepsiCo and Virgin Group, as well as representation from nonprofit organizations, such as the Rockefeller and Ford Foundations.

The company said inspiration for the forum came from the Pope’s “call for more and better jobs, broader prosperity and lasting ways to lift the poor.” The event aims to promote action in the private sector to help eradicate problems of poverty.

The Global Forum will be led by Time Inc. Chief Content Officer and Fortune editor-in-chief Alan Murray and Time Inc. News Group editorial director and Time editor-in-chief Nancy Gibbs.

This forum is one of more than a dozen live events produced annually by Fortune Live Media.

To accommodate for recent declining print revenue, Time Inc. has significantly expanded its brands into the live events business.

In the past year, Time Inc. has launched other events like Entertainment Weekly PopFest, the InStyle Awards and Fortune Brainstorm Health.
