Following the abrupt departure of Gail Berman as Fox's president of Entertainment, Peter Liguori was named to the post Thursday.

Liguori, who just prior to this appointment was president and CEO of sister News Corp. channel FX Networks since 1998, will be responsible for all Fox program development and scheduling, as well as marketing, business affairs, and promotions, a Fox spokeswoman said.

At FX, Liguori oversaw the development of programs like "Nip/Tuck," "The Shield," and "Rescue Me."

His predecessor at Fox, Berman, left her post Tuesday to take a newly created post at Paramount Pictures. -- D.K.
