Richard McDonald Named President Of Epsilon's Agency Practice

Marketing services and data company Epsilon, part of Alliance Data has promoted Richard McDonald to president of its agency services operation. He succeeds Mark Modesto, who left the company in May.

McDonald, who joined Epsilon in 2012, will now report to Epsilon/Conversant Chief Executive Officer Bryan Kennedy, and will lead the Agency practice globally. (Epsilon agreed to acquire Conversant, formerly known as ValueClick, for $2.3 billion in September of 2014.)

McDonald is tasked with building out the firm’s creative, account management and marketing strategy teams, in a bid to further grow its agency client base.

In July Del Monte tapped Epsilon for agency of record duties after a five month review. Last year it won digital AOR duties for a number of Nature’s Way brands along with a CRM assignment. McDonald is credited with leading the effort on both pitches in last role as SVP strategy and growth.

“McDonald has spearheaded tremendous growth for our Agency practice since he joined Epsilon,” said Kennedy. “He brings over two decades of global agency and brand experience, as well as a fresh, entrepreneurial spirit to a fast growing part of our business.”

McDonald will remain based out of Epsilon’s Chicago office. Prior to Epsilon, McDonald was founding partner at TimeZoneOne, an agency launched in New Zealand that later expanded to London and Chicago.
