NowThis, Jash Team For New Facebook Live Video Series

NowThis and Jash today announced a partnership on a new series featuring comedians interviewing politicians and other influential figures.

NowThis will air its prequel to the series tonight, December 15, on Facebook Live, starring Sarah Silverman and Bernie Sanders. Though streaming on Facebook Live, the interview was recorded on November 29.

A spokeswoman told Publishers Daily that NowThis is considering additional distribution channels for other episodes.

The series is produced by Jash, a comedy production company, and distributed exclusively on NowThis channels. Jash was founded in 2013 by Doug DeLuca, Daniel Kellison and Mickey Meyer with founding comedians Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, Reggie Watts, Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim.

Tina Exarhos, chief content officer of NowThis, stated the partnership “allows us to provide super-relevant, high-quality interviews, featuring phenomenal talent, to the right audience on the right platforms.”

In the hour-long episode, Silverman and Sanders will discuss “money in politics, corporate greed, Standing Rock protests, uniting post-Trump and how Sen. Sanders will continue to push a progressive agenda in Republican-held Washington,” according to the statement.

The company added that the partnership is a “natural” extension."  Jash, a comedy studio, branded content agency and collective, frequently taps big names to talk politics and often develops content and custom activations for The White House.

NowThis, a popular political news site targeting millennials, was the No. 1 video news source for election coverage on Facebook and has landed interviews with various politicians to reach that demographic.

NowThis racks in almost 3 billion views a month across multiple platforms. In October, it was merged with Thrillist Media Group, The Dodo, Discovery’s digital network Seeker and its production studio SourceFed Studios to form a new media company, Group Nine Media.

Discovery Communications made a minority investment of $100 million in the new company. Group Nine Media is now considered one of the largest digital content companies.

Jash was founded in 2013 by Doug DeLuca, Daniel Kellison and Mickey Meyer with founding comedians Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, Reggie Watts, Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim.

In September, Time Inc. partnered with Jash to create “a multiplatform comedy content creation engine for advertisers.” Jash will bundle its content with Time Inc.’s digital media and offer it to Time Inc.’s digital audience and advertising partners.
