AOL Offers Kids Online "Clubhouses"

  • April 13, 2005
AOL announced today the release of Kids Online virtual "clubhouses," sites that kids can design and invite their friends to for chat sessions, online activities, all under the watchful eyes of their parents, who have access to a number of supervision tools. The clubhouses can only be built by AOL members, but non-AOL members can be invited for chats. Kids can create their own avatars for the chat sessions, and users can post photos, polls, and draw together on a virtual whiteboard. For parents, the clubhouses provide several protections, including guest list approval, the ability to reject other invitations, and password-protected monthly reports on clubhouse activity.
