Kinetic Tells The Ugly Truth About Sexual Exploitation, Trafficking

Nonprofit The Voices and Faces Project and WPP's Kinetic Worldwide are using Inauguration Day on January 20 to raise awareness about sexual exploitation and trafficking.

In Washington, D.C., alone, trafficking innocent children is a $100 million industry.

According to a Washington Post article, an estimated 70 people have been prosecuted in the federal and D.C. courts on charges related to human trafficking since 2009.

The ads are running on six transit shelters and mobile billboards from January 19 through the 23, all designed to target the millions of citizens that will flock to Washington next weekend.

The campaign’s creative attempts to debunk myths and shine a light on the realities of sexual exploitation and trafficking. Messages include "Human trafficking. It's not just global. It's local" and "If you are paying for sex, you could be paying for someone's pain."

Through its partnership with The Voices and Faces Project, Kinetic first piloted "The Ugly Truth” campaign in San Diego this past summer during MLB's All-Star game and in Chicago in 2013.

The campaign has been recognized by the European Union as one of the best gender-justice media campaigns running worldwide.

Kinetic’s pro bono involvement coincides with the recent formation of World Without Exploitation (WorldWE), a coalition of more than 60 organizations and individuals fighting to end human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
