Mostly thanks to small donors, Donald Trump has already amassed $7.6 million for his 2020 reelection bid. The Trump campaign’s committee began 2017 debt-free, and has since continued to raise money. In the last month of 2016, the Trump campaign and RNC joint committees raised $13.5 million, so for the boast he was "self-financed."
