Rubicon Project Names CFO, VP Product Management

Ad-tech firm Rubicon Project on Monday announced that David Day will be its CFO, and Khoi Nguyen was named vice president, product management for video, a newly created role. The appointments come on the heels of last week’s news of seven high-level departures including the company’s president, Greg Raifman. The new appointments are part of Rubicon’s on-going restructuring.

Day has served as Rubicon Project’s interim CFO since May 2016 and the company’s chief accounting officer since joining the firm in March 2013. As CFO, Day is tasked with overseeing all finance functions, including financial reporting, treasury, tax, audit, and investor relations. He reports directly to Rubicon Project’s CEO and founder, Frank Addante.

Previously, Day was chief accounting officer at ReachLocal, a publicly traded digital advertising company, and SVP of finance at Overture and at Yahoo Search Marketing.

Nguyen, who formerly worked at OpenX and Google, will lead video advertising at Rubicon Project. The company said it's prioritizing video as it refocuses its business, noting that more than half of the company’s top 100 customers use its technology to run their video advertising business. The number of Rubicon's video accounts grew by more than 50% in Q3, according to the company. Nguyen will report to Tom Kershaw, chief technology officer.
