David Carson Joins 72andSunny As Artist In Residence

72andSunny is naming designer David Carson as its first artist in residence for Hecho En 72, the maker lab and production studio located inside the MDC Partners-owned agency.

In this role, Carson will work on creative projects for clients, lead educational series and serve as a mentor to the current employees at both 72andSunny Los Angeles and Hecho En 72.

In addition, Carson will work on special collaboration projects with the agency's motion designers and creative technologists.

The 30-person studio includes editors, designers, builders, technologists and experimenters, as well as a roster of film directors. Clients include several 72andSunny brands, including Google, truth, Coors, Starbucks, as well direct clients such as Flybrix and Murad.

This is not a superficial appointment, but rather a paid position that will require Carson to show up to the office on a regular basis and contribute to the office culture.

"Having artists in residence is a bit experimental," says Megan Woods, Brand director, Hecho En 72. "We have ideas in mind about how it will work, but also look at it as wet clay that can evolve and shape as we go."
