Arbitron Monday released
the first in a seriesof reports on the impact cell phones are having on radio audience
ratings. The findings may be relevant for any form of media or marketing research that rely on random digit dialing of phone numbers to recruit their samples, because an increasing number of Americans
live in cell phone-only households. Arbitron said it also is exploring a "faster introduction" of a Web-based electronic alternative to the paper-and-pencil diary. -- J.M.
