The U.S. Department of Justice Wednesday targeted peer-to-peer network Elite Torrents, which last week allegedly made available for download the latest "Star Wars" movie, "Episode III: Revenge of the Sith," hours before it officially opened in theaters. The FBI and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement executed 10 search warrants against Elite Torrents and seized its main server. The government alleged that the network had more than 133,000 members, and in the last four months, facilitated 2.1 million illegal downloads of more than 17,800 movies and software. Wednesday's action represented the first time the federal government has launched a criminal initiative against peer-to-peer networks that use BitTorrent technology. -- Wendy Davis
