MSN Shopping To Add PriceGrabber Listings

Comparison shopping site PriceGrabber.com and MSN formed a strategic partnership to add the shopping site's listings and review database onto MSN's shopping vertical site. The partnership, which hasn't yet gone live, was signed earlier this month.

"We're all about linking consumers up with the right merchants and the right products," said Chris Jolley, MSN Shopping's consumer programming director. "It's about expanding the kind of content that consumers are looking for when they're looking for purchases online, whether it's more selections or more information about the selection."

The new listings will go into effect before the fourth quarter, Jolley said, and are part of MSN's preparations for the end-of-year holiday shopping frenzy. The deal with PriceGrabber will add millions of listings to MSN's shopping categories, including home and garden, apparel, consumer electronics, and entertainment.

The listings gleaned from PriceGrabber will also include reviews from PriceGrabber's users. Jolley said that it was not yet clear whether or not MSN users would be able to add their own reviews to the PriceGrabber listings.

According to Jolley, PriceGrabber's reviews were one of the key selling points for closing the deal. "The reviews' functionality is a great addition to what we currently offer on MSN," he said. "This alliance is about the information that they supply us regarding the products in their database, and the PriceGrabber listings will come with the reviews."
