Texas U's Vmag Now A Weekly

  • September 20, 2005
Although only 10,000 people have subscribed to Texas University's football-oriented online video magazine, Vmag, almost 90 percent of those have viewed it since April, Vmag's producer, NEWGame Communications, said Monday. Also, 86 percent of viewers have requested further promotional materials such as newsletter, promotions, and other information.

Initially NEWgame and Texas U had planned on sending subscribers five newsletters over the course of the football season for the fixed price of $25, but demand was such that they've begun sending out newsletters every week, Hessert said. Twenty-one percent of the recipients clicked-through to the Longhorns online store, which is obviously another opportunity for Texas to generate revenue from the operation. What's more, there appeared to be a strong viral element to the video magazine, as 22.5 percent of those who viewed the latest Vmag forwarded it to a friend. Recipients are sent a flash file with a preview with the most recent recorded content available.
