Players of massively multiplayer online games--where players create characters and interact with one another--are overwhelmingly male, young, and dedicated to their games, according to a new study by
IGN research. The report, based on a survey of 5,634 people, found that 93.2 percent of players were male and 66 percent fit into the coveted 18-34 age demographic. They also spend a substantial
amount of time playing--with averages ranging from 10 hours a week for "moderate" gamers to 18 hours a week for "heavy" gamers.
