John Schueler Tapped By Media General To Head Florida Communications Group

Media General announced on Wednesday that it was tapping John R. Schueler to head up its Florida Communications Group, with the hire coming into effect on October 1.

Schueler, the former vice president and publisher of the ANG Division of Denver-based MediaNews Group, will take over the running of Media General's Tampa-based operations, which include The Tampa Tribune newspaper, television station WFLA-TV, and CENTRO Grupo De Comunicacion, a Spanish-language concern that combines print, broadcast, and online elements.

In addition to The Tampa Tribune, Media General also publishes two other metropolitan newspapers, the Richmond Times-Dispatch and the Winston-Salem Journal, as well as 22 daily community newspapers in the Southeastern United States. The company is also affiliated with 26 television stations in the region, and some 50 online enterprises.
