Verizon's FiOS TV network is on its way: The Texas Public Utility Commission approved the first statewide franchise of a telephone video service on Friday. Verizon had filed for franchises in 21
communities under the state's new franchise law--the first of its kind in the country. Verizon says it will have its FiOS TV in 400,000 households by the end of next year. It also has a number of
pending franchises in other states.
