"The Book of Daniel" is closed. NBC has pulled the plug on its controversial drama about a priest and his challenging life. The show had struggled with low ratings, and Christian groups had railed
against its content and advertisers. A repeat of "Law & Order" will fill its Friday 10 P.M. spot this week, with a two-hour "Dateline" the following week. After the Olympics, a new drama from "Law &
Order" creator Dick Wolf will launch there, with a potentially strong lead in "Las Vegas," as NBC shifts the hit from Monday nights. Four episodes of "Daniel" aired, and four will stay in the can.
Some affiliates refused to air the show due to its controversial nature, but it still reached 98 percent of the country.
