Agency.com President Resigns

Don Scales, president and CEO of the interactive shop Agency.com, has resigned, a company spokeswoman said Wednesday. She said the departure was due to "strategic differences," but declined to elaborate.

Scales, who joined Agency.com in 2001, took over as CEO almost two years ago, replacing founder Chan Suh.

His departure is the second major recent shake-up among interactive agencies. Several weeks ago, Kate Everett-Thorp resigned as president of interactive at AKQA in order to seek a position at a start-up. In the meantime, she is serving as a venture partner at the venture capital firm Walden VC.

Last year, under Scales' leadership, Agency.com won 26 new clients, including CNN.com, the Food Network, and Maidenform. The shop also represented big-name clients including eBay and British Airways.

Agency.com last month won OMMA magazine's agency of the year award for best creative.

Agency.com is currently searching for successor to Scales, and will likely name a replacement within several weeks, said the spokeswoman.
