7:36 a.m....traffic on the L.I.E., as always. Spend half my life on this road, it seems. Wonder whether I should take the Throgs Neck or the Whitestone. Could use some traffic on the eights...[click]

...the number again: 1-8-0-0-M-A-T-T-R-E-S. We leave off the last "S" for extra savings!...WCBS news time 7:38 a.m. Charley in the traffic copter. What are we seeing up there, Charley?...It's bumper-to-bumper on the Van Wyck... Heading into the Bronx, your best bet is the Throgs Neck. Lincoln Tunnel, 25 minutes...

Dammit, gotta get over to the right lane. Yeah, up yours too, pal...

...gotta go to Mo's --MODELL'S! [static]...Diamond Dave here, rockin' your socks with the voice of choice and rejoice the Rolls-Royce and [static]...A two-day sale on projection TVs at 6th Avenue, no interest until 2013!!! [static]...Girls just want to have fu-u-un [static]...Next caller, Vinny from Moonachie. Vinny? Eli Manning is a bum and the Giants oughta be kicking themselves about not picking Roethlisberger [static]...The most common side effects of Nexium are headache, diarrhea, and abdominal pain...

Whatever happened to music on the radio? I sure like the idea of that big-screen TV, though, and darned if I haven't been feeling a little gassy lately -- still, something to be said for...So many choices, between this and satellite. Satellite radio, even with the monthly subscription, a holiday gift I actually wanted -- go figure...

...next on Little Steven's "Underground Garage": More deep cuts from the Troggs [whirring noise]. I dunno about that Bobby Labonte number 43 car, Bill. It ain't what it once was [whirring noise]...Poor man wanna be rich, rich man wanna be king, and a king ain't satisfied 'til he rules everything [whirring noise]...What the liberal media would have you believe is [whirring noise]...You're listening to smoooooth double-alterna-jazz 4, right next to cool jazz 8 and smokin' hot jazz 14 on your satellite dial [whirring noise]...

Keep hearing that regular radio is dead. Not seeing it -- still the first option for pretty much everyone I know. Plus some folks won't pay for what they're used to getting for free. Wonder what's going on on the Cross-Bronx. Pretty sure they're done with the construction, but it can't hurt to check...

...and it'll cost you 20 minutes by the tolls on the Expressway up by Woodbury Common. Back in 10 with the next update [static]...Hombre, eso no será nada pero una pérdida de tiempo [static]...It's always family night at Kuester's Bar and Grill, right off Route 46 in Totowa. Kid karaoke every Sunday [static]...StubHub.com, where fans buy and sell tickets, sometimes at a 375 percent markup [static]..."Big Momma's House 2," now in theaters, because there were so many questions left unanswered by the first one [static]...

Damn commercials. Do the stations conspire to go to commercials at the exact same moment? I suppose asking for online radio in my car is a bit meta. Wish I could do LAUNCHcast here: a whole bunch of songs with only a few "brought to you by Jeep" messages. Might be a little tough to rate the songs while I'm driving, though...Satellite comes close, it's a channel-flipper's dream most mornings...

...Gary, mic her up. Honey, what are you wearing? Wow. Wow. That's nice. Robin, you see this? [whirring noise]...Blue moon, you saw me standing all alone [whirring noise] [whirring noise]...God is watching us, God is watching us, God is watching usssss from a distance [whirring noise]...If we've learned nothing from the 2004 election, it's that infighting will tear us apart. And what does Howard Dean stand for if not [whirring noise]...So you add the eggs to the batter, then just a teensy teensy pinch of cinnamon. That's a very, very good thing [whirring noise]...Master of puppets! Master of puppets! [whirring noise]...

No commercials. Energized, passionate personalities. Some seriously deep cuts and so many voices. So much choice. Choice is good, I think. Is there such a thing as too much choice? Maybe it's just the traffic. Need some solitude [click].
