Microsoft Signs Alliances With Rich Media Providers

  • September 24, 2002
In July, Yahoo announced partnerships with four rich media providers. Yesterday, it was MSN's turn. The portal announced alliances with Eyeblaster and Pointroll. The deal allows advertisers to place rich media ads into 12 popular MSN channels, including CNBC on MSN Money, MSNBC and the MSN Carpoint. The alliances are the first MSN has established with third-party rich media vendors. In the past, MSN offered rich media ads developed internally at Microsoft and will continue to do so. Advertisers can use Eyeblaster to run floating ads, full-page overlays and interstitial window ads. Pointroll ads are non-intrusive because they deliver additional ad content upon user-initiated mouseovers.
