French cosmetics giant L'Oreal has bought The Body Shop, the environmentally friendly beauty retail chain with more than 2,000 stores in 53 countries. The deal was valued at over $1 billion, according
to news reports. L'Oreal said it will operate the company as a stand-alone business from its head office in Littlehampton, England, with company founder Anita Roddick remaining in her current role as
consultant.
