Time Inc. Settles In 23 States on Sub Lawsuit

  • March 22, 2006
Time Inc. announced today that it had settled a lawsuit brought by 23 states on behalf of consumers who claimed they were defrauded by Time's automatic renewal of their subscriptions. The terms of the settlement include a $4.5 million payment to cover the plaintiffs' investigative fees, as well as a fund to reimburse defrauded customers who mail in a claim form. The settlement follows concern about inflated circulation numbers among ad and media execs on Madison Avenue.
