Ninety percent of RSS readers do not follow through links in feeds to their originating sites--and opt to read the content directly in their aggregator or RSS reader, whether they read summaries or the full articles, according to a report released by RSS ad firm Pheedo today at the Syndicate Conference in New York City. Currently, the top two aggregator services are BlogLines and MyYahoo, with market shares of 30 percent and 24 percent, respectively. The highest-performing RSS ad categories were comics and humor at a 9.62 percent click-through rate, and travel feeds, with an 8.54 percent click-through rate. The data for the study was based on the activity from its own network of RSS feeds.
