MySpace Glitch Takes Down Profiles

  • July 31, 2006
Social networking site MySpace late last week accidentally deleted a host of accounts, triggering a wave of complaints on the blogosphere. According to Nielsen BuzzMetrics' Blogpulse service, by Friday evening, over 500 posts had been made about the topic, comprising .285 percent of all blog posts on July 28. By way of comparison, posts on the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah comprised .389 percent of blog posts. A MySpace spokesperson said the deletions were the result of a technical problem; the company also recently suffered a power outage, due to blackouts in the Los Angeles area.
