Actor Tom Cruise, recently axed by Paramount Pictures, paid a visit late last week to Yahoo chief Terry Semel. The matters discussed during the three-hour confab remain the subject of speculation, but
Yahoo Sunday stated that the meeting was simply a social lunch between Cruise and Semel, former Warner Bros. honcho and a longtime friend of Cruise. In January, Cruise
joined Semel on stage at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. At this point, neither Yahoo
nor Cruise have said whether the actor and Yahoo might work together on Web programs.
