Emmy Awards: It's Not Commercial TV, It's HBO

Proving once again that it's not TV - it's HBO - that the television industry loves best, the pay TV channel dominated the 2006 Emmy Awards Sunday night in Los Angeles, taking top honors and 26 awards overall. And to make it clear that Emmy awards do not necessarily correspond to ratings success, NBC, which is a prime-time Nielsen also-ran, had the highest tally of the commercial broadcast networks, taking 14 awards, including one for best new comedy series, "The Office." ABC placed third with 11 awards, including one for medical drama "Grey's Anatomy," and Fox ranked fourth with 10 winners. CBS, the highest rated network, ranked fifth with only nine Emmy awards.
