Dave.TV Lets Sites Publish Video, Share Ad Revenue

Video-sharing site Dave.TV is launching a new service that will let users set up personalized versions of the video portal on their own Web sites.

By embedding the MyTVBox media player, people will be able to post videos, photos and MP3 files directly to their own sites or blogs and share in revenue from video ads that run on their MyTVBox. Site owners will keep 20 percent of the proceeds from 15-second spots that run between videos organized by playlist. The balance will go to Dave.TV and its content partners.

Dave.TV, which delivers professional and user-created content through its peer-to-peer video network, will ensure that MyTVBox ads are relevant to the content of sites on which they appear. Users will also be able to combine their own original video with copy-protected content from the Dave.TV library.

The company's content includes music videos from major labels and programming from National Geographic and IMAX Films, among others. Dave.TV relies on ad networks for the video ads.

Since formally launching in May, Dave.TV--which stands for Distributed Audio Video Entertainment Television--has attracted more than 100,000 registered users. By next year, the company plans to let users stream Dave.TV directly to their TVs through its IPTV set-top box called xPort.
