  • September 18, 2006
NBC's "Today" show with Meredith Vieira rose to 6.91 million viewers on her debut, Sept. 13, with a 2.6 rating among target adults 25-54. Excluding Katie Couric's last day and four days during the Torino Olympics, this was the show's most-watched telecast since Dec. 9, 2005 (7.51 million), and highest-rated among adults 25-54 since June 1, 2006 (also a 2.6). Comparably (and also excluding Couric's final telecast), "Today" beat second-place "Good Morning America" on ABC (4.41 million) by 2.5 million viewers, its biggest advantage since Aug. 20, 2004.
