ESPN Scores Big Again For Monday Night Football

  • September 20, 2006
ESPN scored its highest ratings ever for the second game of its "Monday Night Football" package. In the game where the Jacksonville Jaguars shut out the Pittsburgh Steelers 9-0, ESPN posted 13.3 million viewers--a 10.6 household rating. The ratings succeed the previous week game, which held the previous record of 12.6 million viewers and a 9.9 rating. ESPN ratings are nowhere near the all-time "Monday Night Football" ratings on ABC. For example, during the 1989 season, ABC averaged 25.3 million viewers---its highest ever. In 1981, it grabbed its highest average household rating--a 21.7. --Wayne Friedman
