Google Friday asked a federal district court judge in California to dismiss a defamation lawsuit stemming from the company's search engine results. The case involves a lawsuit filed by a site for
parents, KinderStart.com, which
sued Google because the search engine no longer displays the
Web site in the organic results when users search for the term "KinderStart." The judge, Jeremy Fogel, indicated he wasn't inclined to rule in KinderStart's favor, according to a Reuters account of
the hearing. "Assuming Google is saying that KinderStart's Web site isn't worth seeing. Why can't they say that? That's my question," Fogel said, according to a Reuters account of the hearing. Fogel
doesn't intend to issue a decision before the end of the year, according to Reuters.
