Agency.com Loses Two Top Execs

Agency.com is undergoing another round of unexpected turnovers, as heads of both its New York and San Francisco offices have resigned. Eric Valk Peterson, managing partner of Agency.com's New York office, and his counterpart in San Francisco, Alan Burgis, resigned late last week, a company spokesman confirmed.

It's been a turbulent year for the Omnicom Group agency amid efforts to expand overseas and align with sister shop TBWA. Earlier this year, Agency.com lost its then president and CEO, Don Scales, over what a company spokeswoman said were "strategic differences."

"These things are natural during a time of change," said an Agency.com spokesman. "We're ramping up on a new vision and purpose--like aligning our values with TBWA."

After defecting to interactive marketing and search agency iCrossing, Scales made a point of poaching four Agency.com staffers from its Dallas offices: Colin Turney, managing director; Marlin Jackson, vice president of business development; Lori Wilson, creative director; and Rob Garner, senior strategic planner.

Scales, who took the reins from Agency's founder Chan Suh in 2001, was succeeded by David Eastman in March. Eastman has kept busy, opening three European offices and planning for others in Paris and Shanghai shortly.

Eastman will replace Valk Peterson in New York on an interim basis, while Brian Hollyfield is taking Burgis' place in San Francisco, a company spokesman confirmed. News of the departures was first reported Tuesday in Adweek.
