Small Businesses To Up Online Marketing

Small- and medium-sized businesses plan to increase spending on e-commerce and online marketing in 2007, according to a new Yankee Group study. Very small businesses with two to 19 employees are especially bullish about the Internet, with 52% of those surveyed saying they would increase online marketing dollars next year. "After conducting the same survey five consecutive years and seeing such a marked interest this year, we expect 2007 to be a banner year for online marketing and e-commerce," said Gary Chen, an analyst with Yankee Group Enterprise Research group, small and medium business strategies. Russell Morgan, president of the nonprofit Information Technology Solution Providers Alliance, said online initiatives can help small businesses level the playing field with large ones.
