Hearst Builds Digital Media Division With Key Hires

  • December 5, 2006
Pamela Raley, a former Walt Disney Company executive, has joined Hearst Magazines Digital Media, a new unit focused on building the company's presence in the digital space, as vice president-sales. Raley, who officially began on Monday, is reporting to Chuck Cordray, vice president and general manager, Hearst Magazines Digital Media. Raley will lead the sales and marketing force for the digital media unit. She will also work closely with the magazines' existing sales teams and Hearst Integrated Media to integrate digital media into their advertising offerings. In addition to Raley, two other executives have joined Hearst Magazines Digital Media: Christopher Johnson as content director, and Sophia Stuart as mobile director. They also report to Cordray. Johnson--who oversees all online content for Hearst Magazines Digital Media in cooperation with the Web editors at Hearst's magazines--joined Hearst from IAC Search & Media, where he led its portal partnerships division. Stuart, who is responsible for building mobile content and services across Hearst's magazine brands, re-joins Hearst after leading digital media ventures for its U.K. operations between 1999 and late 2001.
