WSJ.com To Offer Online Stock-Tracking

  • December 18, 2006
The Wall Street Journal early next year will launch a new online stock-tracking feature aimed at compensating for slated cutbacks in stock information in the printed edition. The new feature, slated to go live Jan. 2, will be available even to users who don't subscribe to the Web site--a move apparently aimed at boosting traffic by luring new visitors. In addition to appearing on the main WSJ.com site, the feature will be available at its own Web address, www.wsjmarkets.com. The Wall Street Journal online had 788,000 paying subscribers at the end of the third quarter. The Journal is cutting down the size of its print newspaper to save money on production costs. Formerly listing about 4,500 stocks, as of Jan. 2, the print version will list just 1,500.
