NFL Network does not have a carriage agreement with Time Warner Cable or Cablevision, both of which serve the biggest media market in the country, since both
operators balked at the fee the NFL Network is asking, along with its desire to be on the basic tier.
Over the past two weeks, the net has been fighting over the Texas Bowl problem--as well as the feud about it airing live regular-season games for the first time. "In light of the fact that 75% of Time Warner's New York-area customers subscribe to the digital basic tier, we have concluded that its offer represented the quickest and best way to bring Rutgers'appearance in the Texas Bowl to Time Warner subscribers and to make the freeview a reality," says the NFL Network.
