Toast of the Town: Best Search

Reprise Media

Visionary Search Services

Search is the biggest and fastest-growing sector in online advertising, and there's no shortage of competitors in the business. In fact, the search-engine marketing and services space grows more crowded by the day. To be the best in a crowded space doesn't merely require the best technology and the biggest sales team, though they can't hurt, but it does require thoughtful leadership, something that Reprise Media has shown in spades.

The firm is helmed by Josh Stylman and Pete Hershberg, both veterans of the early days of Ask.com, when the butler was still on duty. Exceptionally sharp and insightful, Stylman and Hershberg are consistently on top of all the major developments in the search space. In 2006, Reprise racked up $25 million in billings from some 75 clients and launched the second version of its proSuite platform, used by companies such as Bluefly.com, HarperCollins, USA Network, and Advance Internet.

Reprise has a unique offering in its FeedCast service, which can quickly generate and launch paid search campaigns to promote breaking news stories for major media outlets, and has ginned more than 20 million readers for USA Today, Hearst Publications, Reuters, and the Financial Times. When a major news story breaks and consumers begin Googling, you can count on seeing Reprise's clients in the paid results section with links to their freshest stories.

It's now conventional wisdom that search can be a branding medium along with driving direct sales, and Reprise's Stylman and Hershberg were among the first to start pushing that idea.
