Sprint Adds MTV's 'The N' To Mobile Lineup

Sprint has entered into a partnership with Viacom's MTV Networks to offer video clips and behind-the-scenes footage from top-rated shows from its teen network The N, including "Degrassi: The Next Generation," "South of Nowhere" and "Beyond the Break."

The N Mobile clips will each run about 10 minutes long and will be refreshed weekly. The new N Mobile content is available through Sprint TV, which costs $4.95 a month on top of Sprint data service plans starting at $15 a month.

The launch of N Mobile is an extension of a broader agreement between Sprint and MTV in September through which Sprint offers premium channels featuring MTV programming. The deal includes mobile versions of VH1, CMT and Nickelodeon, among other MTV properties.

Sprint TV offers more than 50 channels of live and on-demand video including Fox Sports, Comedy Central and Sirius Music.

"Teens are increasingly on the go and some of the heaviest wireless users," Paul Jelinek, vice president, Digital Media Products, MTVN Kids and Family Group, said in a statement. "We are now able to provide them with a new way to interact with their favorite personalities and programming from the network, to further extend The N experience beyond home."

The N airs daily from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the Noggin channel and reaches 52 million households via cable, digital cable and satellite TV. "Degrassi: The Next Generation," a dramatic series focusing on students at the Degrassi Community School, is the N's highest rated program, with an average of 400,000 total viewers during the fourth quarter of 2006. About 70% of The N's audience is made up of teen girls, according to a network spokesperson.
