Tribune Interactive is teaming up with social networking software maker Vmix Media to manage user-generated content including video, photos, blogs, ratings and polls on Tribune sites. The deal is aimed at expanding and improving community features on Tribune sites including LATimes.com, Newsday.com, BaltimoreSun.com and SunSentinel.com. It also highlights Tribune's broader efforts to bolster its online operations. Besides running community features on Tribune sites, Vmix will supply content from partners including Fox Home Entertainment, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. Tribune Interactive on Monday also announced a deal with news aggregator Topix.net to power general merchandise classified ads on its newspaper sites.
