IGN Entertainment, BET Forge Mobile Deal With Verizon
On the IGN Mobile Video channel, video segments will range from two to eight minutes in length and cover topics, including video game reviews, game and movie trailers, celebrity interviews, and game gear.
Much of the V CAST channel's content will be derived from the IGN Web site's IGN Video offering, which includes the "IGN Weekly" video show--a weekly summary of gaming and entertainment news.
The extension of IGN Entertainment's video content to mobile devices builds upon the site's original video production efforts, which were recently boosted by the launch of "IGN Weekly." IGN.com currently delivers some four hours per week of gaming, entertainment and lifestyle video content.
"This agreement with Verizon Wireless is another great step in extending the reach of FIM," John Smelzer, senior vice president and general manager of mobile for Fox Interactive Media, said in a statement.
The agreement with Verizon Wireless' V CAST marks the third platform on which consumers can access IGN Mobile Video. The agreement also builds upon Fox Interactive Media's existing relationship with Verizon Wireless, which currently includes the availability of stats, scores and video content from FOXSports.com on V CAST.
Separately on Wednesday, Verizon Wireless also announced a deal with BET Networks to carry portions of its programming on Verizon's V CAST service. BET's channel on V CAST includes interviews from the "106 & Park" music-video show, docudrama "American Gangster," and reality TV show "College Hill," among other programs.
