Adware company Direct Revenue agreed to pay a $1.5 million fine to settle charges stemming from the way it installed software that served consumers with pop-up ads. In its complaint, unveiled Friday,
the FTC alleged that Direct Revenue (along with its affiliates) did not adequately inform consumers about the ad-serving software before they downloaded it. Direct Revenue still faces
charges in New York, brought last year by former Attorney General Eliot Spitzer.
