Trib Revs Down 5% In January

Tribune Company reported that its consolidated revenues for January were $442 million, down 5% from last year. Publishing revenues were $345 million, compared with $367 million last year, down 6%. Advertising revenues decreased 7.3%. More bad news: circulation revenues were down 5.2%, broadcasting decreased 1.4%, and TV revenues fell 1.5%, blamed on a weak auto and retail market. Radio was essentially flat.
