Do You Want To Be My Amigo? MySpace Launches En Espanol

  • April 26, 2007
MySpace has launched a version of its site targeted at the more than 28 million U.S. Spanish speakers at latino.myspace.com. News Corp.'s ubiquitous social networking site also launched la.myspace.com, a pan-regional site for Latin American Spanish speakers.

Previously, MySpace users among its 15 global regions were redirected to local IP addresses. Now, Spanish-speaking users can choose to go directly to the Spanish-language site, rather than the local Spanish or Mexican site, for example.

Users still retain the ability to become friends with MySpace users across the network of sites, regardless of language spoken or country inhabited.

Nielsen//NetRatings reports that MySpace is one of the top five Web sites visited by U.S. Hispanics, with 43% of all U.S. Hispanics visiting the site in March.
