Tribal Fusion Parent Buys Techbargains.com

Emeryille, Calif.-based Exponential has acquired Techbargains.com, and intends to offer the site's consumer technology product deals through its online advertising network Tribal Fusion.

"Our acquisition of Techbargains.com is a significant addition to our technology vertical," said Dilip DaSilva, president and CEO of Exponential. "Their users represent technology enthusiasts looking for the hottest deals, and 82% of the users who visit Techbargains buy something online."

In addition, DaSilva hopes to replicate the success of Techbargains' expertise at attracting and packaging limited time offers in the new categories of health, beauty, consumer goods and general shopping. Techbargains began its expansion into new verticals launching Planetbargains.com last November.

Tribal Fusion delivers 25 billion ad impressions each month to 120 million U.S. and 200 million international users, according to DaSilva.

"We have great behavioral technology," DaSilva said. "We can take the offers from Techbargains and put them into ads that drive them to the site. So we will be using the [Tribal Fusion] network to grow the site."

Founded in 1999 by brothers Norman and Lawrence Fong, Techbargains.com will continue to operate independently. The site uses proprietary deal content from online vendors and custom-built technology to mine search listings.
