Amid Its Own Takeover Turmoil, Disney Acquires The Muppets

Amid its own takeover turmoil, Walt Disney Co. Tuesday announced plans to acquire the "Muppets" from The Jim Henson Co. Terms were not disclosed, but Disney previously tried but failed to acquire the "Muppets" in 1990. The company was sold to German media company EM.TV in 2000 for $680 million, which sold it back to the Henson family last year for $78 million.
